The 45-Hour Post Illinois Broker Real Estate License are designed for individuals who are entering their first renewal as a first year Illinois Licensed Real Estate Broker.
All first year licensees must
- be under a sponsoring broker,
- hold a valid real estate IL license,
- and complete the 45 hour by Thursday, April 30, 2026.

REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN AN IL REAL ESTATE LICENSE
Individuals seeking a real estate broker license must successfully complete the Illinois Pre-License 75-hour coursework to be eligible for taking the license exam.
The IL Broker 75 Hour Pre-License course consists of the following:
- Part I: Mastering the principles and foundation of real estate 60-hours
- Part II: Applying theory and case studies into the business of real estate 15-hours
- Individuals enrolled are required to pass a final exam
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations (IDFPR) refers to the curriculum for individuals seeking a real estate broker license as “Pre-License.” Listed below are the state license application and course requirements: State Application Requirements
- Certificate of graduation from a four-year high school or state equivalent
- Completed 75 hours of real estate classes from an accredited real estate school
- Passed a written examination authorized by the State
- Registered sponsorship with a licensed sponsoring broker
- Social security number or Individual Tax Identification Number
- Be of good moral character
- At least 18 years old
